Set of 7 plates. 19th century. Manufactured by English pottery maker Brown-Westhead, Moore & Co for the Parisian retailer A. C. Lain. The back is stamped “Fabrication Anglaise A C Lain 54 Rue Du Lac Et 238 Bd St Germain Paris” and also impressed with the Brown-Westhead, Moore & Co markings dating the plates to around 1880. These rare plates are blue ironstone and have a beautiful scalloped edge. On the front, they are stamped “Evertit Fortissima Virtus.” Each measures 9.5 inches in diameter, and they are in excellent antique condition. A few of the plates have very small, shallow chips on the bottom of the plate and some light wear to the outer edge of the rim. The prettiest blue plates we have ever found! Found in Provence.
